Year in Review
Below is a collage of my favorite and most valuable experiences since being a college student at UC.
2024-2025
Junior Year
Tapped into CWEST Women's Honorary

Being tapped into this prestigious Women’s Honorary was an incredible distinction. I am grateful to join a community that promotes spirit and excellence across campus.
Joined Dr. Paris Wheeler's Research Lab

Conducted research focused on how cultural and structural factors influence drug use disorders, treatment, and health disparities. Our work highlights cultural strengths that enhance treatment effectiveness and accessibility, particularly for Black Americans facing systemic barriers.
Went to Iceland

Through the University Honors Program, I was able to spend the semester enhancing my writing skills in the Honors Travel Writing seminar before participating in a nine-day class trip to Iceland. There, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the country’s vibrant culture and traditions, all while exploring its rich history and geography.
Picked up Snowboarding

With an increasing academic load, I wanted to develop a new skill that would enhance my perseverance. I grew up doing competitive cheer my whole life, and this taught me grit and determination. I wanted to pick up snowboarding because it is a sport I can do with friends and something I can bond with new classmates about when I am in law school.
Became a Volunteer for the Civic Garden Center

I volunteer at the Civic Garden Center as part of the Horticultural Group. Our work is dedicated to preserving and revitalizing Cincinnati’s historic gardens. We remove invasive species, clean up litter, and plant native species, ensuring the garden remains a thriving space for the community.
Started an AeroGarden

As my food blog continues to thrive, and I have joined the Horticultural group at the Civic Garden Center, I decided to use my skills to make my diet even healthier. An AeroGarden is unique because it is a self powered system that allows plants to thrive using only water and plant food. Now, I can save money instead of having to get my herbs from the grocery store as well as gain practice caring for plants.
Food Blog Honors Experience Recognized by the UC Women's Center

I was featured on UC Women's Center's official Instagram page for bringing my hobbies to life. I was chosen for their first ever "Feminist Friday" for my food blog where I share my recipes, flower arrangements, and AeroGarden.
2023-2024
Sophomore Year
Became an official Psi Chi member

One of my very first goals when stepping foot onto campus freshman year was to eventually become a member of Psi Chi. I worked hard to keep up good grades as Psi Chi requires you to have a 3.5 GPA and be in the top 35% of your major. Thankfully, I was awarded a membership Spring 2024.
Voted President of the Psychology Club

I have been extremely grateful to go from being the president of the Psychology club at my high school to being the president of the psychology club at my University. It has been a privilege to assist others in learning about all the major has to offer.
Received the Innovative Leadership Award

One of my proudest accomplishments is receiving the Innovative Leadership Award in Spring 2024 as just a sophomore, the most competitive honor given by the Center for Student Involvement (priority is often given to graduating seniors). I was nominated for this award because after the Psychology Club disbanded due to COVID, I successfully revived it, growing membership to over 100 students, with 30-40 members attending each meeting. I also mentored new psychology majors, helping them navigate class selections and finding the best professors.
Started a food blog

Publishing my food blog marked a significant milestone in my life. It's a step I never thought I'd have the confidence to take. Through this experience, I've gained a deeper insight into what really counts. Learning to champion myself has empowered me to venture into spaces I once found daunting.
Started my job at the Office of the President

At the office of the President, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with the President, Vice President, and Executive Assistants, on the day-to-day execution of tasks. I also get to help out with special events such as football and basketball games, commencements, and holiday parties.
Elected Interim President of Melanin Fitness

Engaging with the black community at UC has profoundly impacted my life in a positive way. The University African American Cultural Center (AACRC) plays a significant role in fostering a sense of community among black students. Additionally, Melanin Fitness provides a space for black girls to come together, not only to exercise but also to build a supportive community where everyone feels comfortable sharing personal struggles that come with being a black woman.
Appreciated time with family

As I spend my time in college, I come to terms with the fact that I am truly moving out from home. I make sure to spend my breaks from school back in Indiana with my family. My new favorite way to show appreciation for all they have done is by cooking for them! They are my biggest supporters and are the reason I am where I am today.
Kept up with yoga and pilates classes

Staying active was a great way to keep up with my work-life balance. I chose to keep up with it entering into my second year of college. I built amazing relationships with my instructors Brian and Ayana.
Attended sporting events

This year I got to watch the football and basketball games from the President's suite!
2022-2023
Freshman Year
I pushed myself out of my comfort zone by setting challenging goals for myself. I got active by joining workout classes and made new friends by joining extracurriculars. My goals for the academic year were to achieve a 4.0 GPA and apply for a leadership position in my favorite club.

I ended up receiving a 3.95 GPA for the fall semester, and a 4.0 GPA for spring.

I applied to be a Board Member for the Melanin Fitness Club and was voted Vice President
Made new friends

Being from Indiana, I didn't know anyone going into the school year at UC. I got lucky and made friends with an amazing group of girls within just the first week of being on campus! We became practically attached at the hip.
Got into yoga

Staying active is very important to me and a key part of my self-care. I took a yoga class both for course credit as well as through the rec center. Yoga taught my patience as I realized every new pose takes time to master.
Explored the city

I absolutely loved the city life the second I stepped foot in Cincinnati. My friends and I tried new restaurants, walked around downtown, and took in amazing views like of the Ohio River.
Attended freshmen events

My favorite event was watching Spiderman in the Nippert stadium with my friends!
Sent my brother off to dental school

My brother got accepted into dental schools and committed to Meharry! We took a family trip to Nashville to attend his white coat ceremony.
Started pilates classes

I got involved in Pilates for the amazing health benefits.
